Events
This year’s General Assembly has several event types meant for different outcomes. Find out more about the talks, workshops, speakers and social spaces available to you!
All General Assembly events are held virtually via Zoom and Gathertown.
Workshops
These events are intended to provide you with skills by the end of the session. By the end of our citizen science workshops, you will know everything you need to know in order to go out and use the information from the workshop whether it be collecting data for citizen science or taking photos of the night sky using basic tools.
Speakers
Speakers will be sharing information for you about a number of different topics, from new outreach activities that you can run or participate in to an overview of the RASC’s Dark Sky Site program, all you have to do is sit back, relax, and listen. Stay tuned for more information about our Keynote Speaker’s talk about Canada’s role in astronomy.
NOVA Program Preview
Are you new to astronomy, having joined the RASC to learn about the cosmos? This section is for you! The NOVA Program is a comprehensive course, normally run by our Centres, for beginners to astronomy. We will be previewing several NOVA sessions on Saturday afternoon, so we ask all our new-to-astronomy members to join us for these informative and fun sessions!
Gathertown
Join your fellow attendees in our virtual conference space! In Gathertown, you can create an avatar that looks just like you, explore our spaceship-themed conference hall, play games and meet up with other guests to chat about the programs you attended. As you walk around the space, you can approach other participants and your camera and audio will show up on their screen, allowing you to talk organically among groups of folks. This is the perfect way to catch up with old astronomy friends, meet new folks and ask questions of other members! A tutorial on how to use Gathertown will be available soon in the Attendee Hub.
